what now? 11/06/2011
Thank you for being part of the gathering. We hope our featured guests, discussion sessions, and closing thoughts proved helpful or interesting for all participants. In the coming weeks, we will be sending out additional resources and/or thoughts for those looking for a continuation of what they began on the 5th. Until then, please send us your thoughts on the event or what you're now looking for via your evaluation survey or the Contact Us page. Add Comment Call for volunteers 10/25/2011
And I fell on my knees and Cried, ‘Beloved, What may I Give? ‘Just love,’ He said. ‘Just love.’ -Daniel Ladinski, inspired by St. Francis of Assisi Good morning! “I Believe in God…Now What?” is now less than two weeks away! It has been so exciting to watch the program come together both spiritually and logistically. In that vein, I would like to write about opportunities to support the event through volunteering, both for participants and non-participants. [Click "Read More" to expand full entry]
Post-Christian 10/17/2011
Soren Kirkegaard used to tell a story about a man who went to bed one night in Denmark, only to be awakened by a panic attack. 'Am I really a Christian?' the man desperately asked his wife. 'Of course,' she said, 'Now go back to bed.' An hour later, the same thing happened again, frustrating the wife. 'Of course you're a Christian,' she said. 'Now go back to bed and get some sleep.' But the man couldn't sleep. When he woke his wife a third time, she got out of bed, walked to the book shelf, took down the 'D' encyclopedia, and flipping its pages said, 'Look. 'Denmark--Religion: Christian.' Then she closed the book and they both went back to bed and fell fast asleep. [Click "Read More" to expand full entry]
I Believe, Now What? 10/11/2011
I believe in God. I love God. I believe God loves me. This is a beautiful place to begin. But standing alone none of these affirmations make it any more clear about what comes next. But the fact we are asking the question is a sign of good news. It means that we might actually be hungering for a bit more of God. So, how can we make our lives more hospitable to the holy? Words vs. Images 10/02/2011
There's a logo in the upper right hand corner of the site. If you've been to a restaurant or somewhere else that has a promo card for this event, you may have noticed the word cloud imagery on the front of the card (see below). Both visuals use words, but it's the relationships between the placement of the words that tell a story. [Click "Read More" to expand the full entry]
Speaking of religion.... 09/26/2011
In some ways it seems like everyone in Washington is allergic to religion. No one wants to go near the topic, so talking about it is somehow off limits for most. The few willing to talk about it usually seem to be either completely anti-religion of any kind or the kind of people who claim to have all the answers. [Click "Read More" to expand the full entry]
